Handwriting Competition

We are excited to announce the launch of the Littlehampton Town Show Handwriting Competition. An inspiring opportunity for Year 5 students in Littlehampton to showcase their handwriting skills!

This competition aims to encourage and celebrate creativity, pride in handwriting, and a love for written expression. We would love for your school to participate by supporting your students to enter this exciting new event.

Competition Details:

  • Open to all Year 5 students (primary school or home-schooled children aged 9 – 10).
  • Each entry must be a handwritten piece copying the provided text and be presented on a single sheet of plain paper, no larger than A4 (21.0 x 29.7cm)
  • Entrants should submit a copy of the provided poem along with an attached entry form, showcasing their writing neatness, legibility, consistency and creativity. 
    • Opening date for entries, Saturday 16 May 2026
    • Closing date for entries, Sunday 19 July 2026
  • Drop off points for entries:
    • Littlehampton Library dedicated LTS post-box.
    • 6 Old Mead Road, Wick, Littlehampton BN17 7PU
    • Scanned copies of entries can be submitted via our email address littlehamptontownshow@gmail.com, however, the Committee reserve the right to only accept entries that are of a good visual quality.
  • Winning and runner up entries will be proudly displayed in the Littlehampton Town Show Horticultural tent, at the Town show and Family Fun Day on Saturday 12 September 2026.
  • The overall winner will be presented with a special trophy to keep.

Rules for the Littlehampton Town Show Handwriting Competition 2026

  1. All entries must be the children’s own work.
  2. Entries should be submitted on a single sheet of plain paper, no larger than A4 (21.0 x 29.7cm).
  3. The judging panel will be looking for neatness, accuracy, legibility, consistency and creativity.
  4. The inclusion of illustrations will not count against an entrant, but the judges will only judge the handwriting when selecting the winning entrant.
  5. Entrants should write their contact details on the entry form and attach this form to their poem. These can be the parent or guardian’s, or the teacher’s and school contact details. See our website for further information on our privacy policy.
  6. Entries can be submitted from Saturday 16 May until Sunday 19 July at these locations.

  7. The judging panel will consist of members of the Littlehampton Town Show Committee.
  8. The Committee’s decision will be final, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding their decision.
  9. By entering the competition, you agree that the Littlehampton Town Show Committee has the right to display submitted work at the 2026 annual Town Show, and to publish images of the submitted entries on their social media, website, newsletter, other publicity or promotional materials in the future.
  10. Entrants will automatically be signed up to our newsletter.  You may unsubscribe at any time.
